Hotels in Central London - Ideas?

Hi, I'm looking for a decent hotel, average priced to stay at in Central London. Heading to the airport Friday morning ... Any suggestions? Thank you,
Carrie

I like NUMBER63 (hotel) which is walking distance from Paddington and the Heathrow Express/Heathrow Connect. They have a new elevator and are next door to the Swan pub. The hotel is across the street from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. It is easy to catch a cab at the front door.

What do you mean by "Central London"? If you are referring to all the tourist attractions, we have stayed several times at the Green Park Hilton which is on Half Moon Street, just off Picadilly and across from Green Park. From there, we have walked to everything from the Victoria and Albert to St. Paul's. We also walked from there to the Tower of London, although that was a very long walk...Another advantage to the hotel's location is its proximity to the theatre district. It's a safe one mile walk from the theatre back to the hotel.

Premier Inn Old Street. Nothing beats £29 including tax per night promo we grabbed for such clean, modern and comfortable hotel.

The Number 63 hotel that Swan recommended above, I stayed there in April while the elevator renovation was happening (85 steps from the breakfast room to my room!). Great location, nice staff, nice little sitting room for when the wi-fi wouldn't work in my room, and a clean, compact room, all at a good price. I would recommend it. HOWEVER, if you are a light sleeper, request a room at the back of the hotel or bring along earplugs. The Bayswater Road is very busy and very noisy, and there is some sort of metal plate in the road right outside the hotel. Every time a vehicle goes over it, it makes a loud "kerplunk" noise.
