hotels/B&Bs London A/C in the summer?

Is it highly recommended to have a/c in your room if staying in London in July? We'll be a family of 4 sharing a room. I know a/c is recommended in other countries like Italy, but am wondering if you can get away without it in London. Seems to be a tough feature to find. Thanks!

YES, if you are able get hotel with A/C!!!!!!!! I say this because in 1994, when I went to London for 3 days as an extention of a trip to Ireland we had 90+ degree weather that could have been tied w/a swealtering July summer day in Washington, DC. (which is hot, humid and sticky). Luckily, we had packed a few shorts. The hotel we stayed did not have AC there was no cross ventilation. Even though we had a BLAST in London, at the end of the day we were tired(heat), sweaty and just aggravated. Lets just say we were totally surprised it could get that hot. Many grumpy members of my party. Of course we flew back to Ireland for 8 days and had to wear gloves!!!!!! :)
