I arrive at Heathrow at about 10:45 p.m., leave the next day at 2:45 p.m. Would love to stay near Victoria & Albert Museum so I can take a quick tour the next morning before heading back to the airport. However, I don't know if that's realistic - by the time I get my luggage, go through customs & get into town, it will be after midnight. I am also traveling by myself and would like to spend no more than 75 pounds per night. Any hotels near V & A which anyone can suggest, or would I be better off going to a hotel near the airport like Ibis and just taking the tube into London the next morning? Thanks.
Hi Janet,
You might try the Yotel at Heathrow....I have only just discovered it myself...looks good to me!

Take a look at the Millenium Baileys Hotel. It is directly across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station. It is easy to get to from Heathrow because it is on the Piccadilly line. Additionally, it is walking distance to the V&A. I've stayed here 4 or 5 times and love the convenience of being directly across from the tube station and not far from the South Kensington museums. I have spent many of my last mornings in London at the V&A. Arriving late to the hotel is no problem. I usually arrive at Heathrow around 10 pm and then go right to this hotel.
One problem is that while they often have good rates on the weekends, weekdays can be overpriced. I just got a single for 55 pounds (+VAT) in May for weekend nights. The price was over 100 on the weekdays (too much). There are quite a few budget hotels near Gloucester Road and this would be a decent choice for getting to the V&A.
Thank you to both of you! I will check out both those options.

Janet, I am in a similar situation. I arrive at 2:30 pm, but leave the next day at 8:am.
I went on hotwire.com and got the Sheraton Heathrow for $89 a night.
I'm going to take their airport bus to the hotel, check in, then take the tube to London. The next day I'll take a taxi back to Heathrow, which the hotel said its 10 pounds.
