In London I think I want to stay near Kings Cross Sy. Pancras just to make it easier - that is where Eurostar station is and will make it easy to shuttle to and from the airport Heathrow. Do you have any recommendations of hotels or bb in that area must have ensuite.
I've stayed at the Crestfield Hotel. It is a short walk from St. Pancras/KingsX and very easy to find. They have a website. The breakfast isn't much, but the rooms are ok and front desk people are nice. I've stayed there overnight when arriving from the states and planning to take Eurostar to Paris the next day.
Hi Linda,
Whenever we fly home from London we stay at the Kensington Court hotel in West Kensington. It's a budget property with only stairs but in a great location, just a block from Queensway and two tube stops. It's only 1 tube stop from Paddington station so it's easy to catch the Heathrow Express from there. Did you know you can buy your Heathrow Express tickets online in advance? I don't care much myself for the Kings Cross neighborhood but Kensington is very cool. Queensway alone has about 30 restaurants and bars of all different ethnic backgrounds, particularly Mandarin and different Asian types and Indian. There are also several pubs close by. Or to be in the general vicinity of Kings Cross without being right in it, you could stay in Bloomsbury or Soho in a fairly reasonable hotel not as cheap as Kensington but still cheap enough. I like the Lonsdale Hotel in Bloomsbury. It's a short walk to the Holborn tube stop which is only one stop from Kings Cross. There are lots of good pubs & restaurants in this very elegant neighborhood plus it's a short walk to Covent Garden, Leichester Square and Chinatown. Last time I checked their prices for a double w/bath had gone up to L55.00 so they are probably around L65.00 by now.
