Hotel or B&B in Dublin

I am travelling to Ireland in October. I will be spending a few days in Dublin before going to the Clare region. Can anybody reccomend a quiet place to stay prefarbly a B&B that is not too far from the city center.

We stayed at Windsor Lodge in Dun Laoghaire which is recommended here by RS. www.windsorlodge.ie It is 2 min. from the DART and 2 from the water. The place is on a very tiny street and I don't remember hearing much of anything when we were there.

This June I stayed at Avalon House hostel which is close to the city center - I could walk to everything. As a 59-year-old woman traveling alone, I was concerned about safety - there was no problem there - and noise. Dublin is known as a party town, and I was there on a Saturday night. The folks running the hostel put older singles and families on the higher floors and kept the younger, rowdier types on the lower floors. I slept without disturbance. For a single room with bath, it was half the cost of any hotel I checked .
Enjoy your trip!

I stayed at Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St, just a couple of blocks from O'Connell St. It was very close to everything (right behind the Custom House) and I walked everywhere from there.

We stayed at Staunton's (B&B) which is right on St Stephen's Green a couple of years ago. Our room was spacious. It was pretty nice.

We liked Kilronan House B&B which is just a few blocks from Stephens Green. Parking is available but a bit limited. Nice rooms and good breakfast.
