Hotel near Heathrow airport

I have a very early morning flight to Rome from Heathrow...and am looking for some accomodation near the airport which will not break my bank. Any Bnb or Guesthouses around this area?

Katie - Play your cards right you should be able to find one of the major hotels at a pretty fair rate. Hotwire was a great suggestion. Most of the online travel agent / consolidators should have something

Katie
I am in the same situation and went on hotwire.com and got the Sheraton Heathrow for $89+tax (that's dollars, not pounds). From the hotel its only a 10 minute taxi ride to LHR.

We liked the Premier Travel Inn, on the Ring Road outside heathrow. Around 89 per night. Inexpensive. The Airport Hopper bus stops at the front door and takes you directly to Terminal 1 or 2.

www.yotel.com

Located in LHR Terminal 4.

I've never stayed here, but have been looking for airport hotels myself.

The rooms (cabins) are similar to tiny cruise ship cabins with just enough room to shower & sleep.

Might cost a bit more, but the advantage is not having to deal with hotel checkout & waiting for the bus to the airport plus cost.
Can be reserved for four hours minimum.

Many travelers have found that the Yotel at Heathrow was what they needed for early morning departures; however make sure you inform yourself of exactly what it is, it's per hour and is different!

I stay at Heathrow Lodge/Motel, a few minutes from LHR. They have a free shuttle, or a taxi would take only a few minutes. I paid about $70 for a single. the shuttle starts at 6 am. There is a bus 423 that goes to T5, but I don't know how early it starts.

I haven't stayed there yet but I'm booked for a night in the Ibis-London Heathrow Airport. I'm sure it's very basic, run of the mill, nothing special hotel. I paid £45 for a double room for one night. £4 Shuttle service between hotel and airport runs every 20min from 5:30am-11:00pm local bus 5:30am-11:30pm.

Thanks everyone..your replies have been a great help. Am now looking into Yotel at the airport itself. May not be 'in the lap of luxury '...but will certainly be the most convenient. Get up and go straight to the Check in counter...bleary eyed at 5.30 am. Also another info I picked up...senior citizens get a very good discount at some of the airport hotels. Worth looking into if you are over 60...which I am!!! Thanks again.

I found out that the Sheraton Heathrow offers discounted rooms if you only need it for a day, such as a long layover and you need a nap or freshen up.

If you go to the Sheraton web site, its only 79 pounds for a day rate.
