Hotel in Paris - Dec - easy access from Gare du Nord

I plan on going to Paris from London in Dec, to see some of the Paris Christmas decor. Im interested in inexpensive (but safe etc) hotel that has very easy access to the Metro. I can travel on the Metro no problem; just can't walk significant distances from the Metro. Stairs fine. WC down the hall fine. I usually stay in the Rue Cler area - 70ish Euros for a single. Any ideas I may not have considered? Also, if there are things not to be missed during Dec, I'd be interested. I've been to Paris before, but not during the holidays. I will not be there prior to Christmas (not the week before or after). Cheers!

I will not be there prior to Christmas (not the week before or after). Hi Laurel, that sentence confuses me. Do you mean you will be arriving on Christmas day and leaving the next day?

Sorry for any confusion. I'd be there 3- 4 days some time between Dec 1 and 16

Laurel, you will probably get more responses if you post your question in To The West.

I stayed at the Hotel du Loiret last year. It's not near the Gare du Nord, but is just 2 blocks from the Hotel de Ville Metro. It's just steps from rue du Rivoli. Very safe area, 70 euros single. Clean, basic, bath en suite. http://www.hotel-du-loiret.fr/

I just checked, Hotel Saint Pierre has a single room available from the 2nd to 4th, 3 nights , special deal 69 euros. I have stayed there and recommend it. Its VERY central, its just off the busy Boulevard St Michel, but on a quiet sidestreet, about a block from the St Michel RER/metro stop and less then that to the Cluny stop, you can walk to tons of places from here or just jump on metro. Stores and cafes all around you. Hotel is clean, staff were nice, I would choose to stay here again myself. Its on Rue d'ecole de Medicine right by the Sorbonne.

Thank you so much. My timing has had to change, but I'll check these out for spring! Cheers
