Hotel in Dublin

Hello. I am traveling to Europe w/my first stop in Ireland. I land in Dublin and was hoping for a decent hotel downtown near the Temple Bar area. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will probably stay in hostels and B&Bs after. But looking for someo place more comfortable after traveling that is semi-reasonably priced.

Thanks
Jami

I was going to suggest the Harding Hotel which is where Rick's tours stay but you are probably looking for something more upscale.

Check out the O'Callaghan hotels near the Temple Bar area (Mont Clare, Alexander, Davenport). Rooms start at 85 euros on-line (quite a bit higher on weekends). www.ocallaghanhotels.com.

Jami,

I was also going to suggest the Harding Hotel as it's very comfortable and in a great location. The noise from Darkey Kelley's bar is noticeable in the evenings, but I didn't find this to be a major problem.

There's a beautiful Cathedral across the street, and the Temple Bar district is only about a five minute walk. I'm not sure what you consider "semi-reasonably priced"? Check their website or the Ireland Guidebook for current rates.

Incidentally, there's a Hostel "attached" to the Harding Hotel so if you'd prefer that, the option is there. I had a look around on my last visit and it seemed like a very well run Hostel.

Happy travels!

I'm agreeing with Pat and Ken. We stayed at the Harding Hotel and yes there was a pub under us but we just closed the double windows and slept well. There breakfast is very good and they are located right across from the Christ Church Cathedral which has a mesmerizing art exhibit by Ludmila Pawlowska showing until the end of July. The Temple Bar starts just a block or two away down Essex street (to the side of the hotel). It's a great evening walk and you'll get to see everything. You can catch a bus heading down the street to the Guinness Storehouse which is very interesting. Also, the bus back to the airport can be caught directly across the river (bus # 748).
