Hotel in Covent Garden

Not a "Rick Steves" type hotel, but a few times we splurged and stayed at what is now called the Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel. It is on the Neals Yard/ Seven Dials side of the Covent Garden area. It was recntly totally renovated. About a 5 min. walk from the Covent Garden tube station. Lots of excellent restaurants in the area.

Check out www.travelodge.co.uk. We stay in Travelodges in London because they are mostly well located and inexpensive. We've not stayed at the one in Covent Garden but it might suit your needs for a basic room in the heart of things. They also have remarkable room sales quite often. We once stayed 5 nights in London for a total of 45 British pounds, about $68.
