Anyone know of a hidden gem of a hotel or B&B in city center Edinburgh? I would like to stay around $200 USD. Its for a special occasion..my daughters 40th birthday, and this will be a once in a lifetime mother-daughter trip. Thinking early September. Thanks for your help!
We've always enjoyed the Royal British Hotel. It is across Princes St. from Waverly train station- very near the park and just a short walk up to the Royal Mile.
Ellen, last fall my husband and I stayed at Fraser Suites which is 1/2 block off the Royal Mile and within walking distance of the Waverly train station. You can't beat the location, which is almost on the doorstep of St. Giles Catherdral, and about a 5 minute walk up to Edinburgh Castle. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, the beds were very comfy and breakfast (included in our room rate) was delicious. Also, a couple of other features are an elevator, and laundry machines available for guest use.
Thanks for the replies...I appreciate them.
I think the place I've stayed several times is Thistle Inn, just below the Royal Mile. Great for seeing the Castle & walking & shopping on the Mile. Not expensive. Istayed there with my mother. August you can get both Tattoo & Fringe Festival.
