I was going to fly home from Glasgow as I'll be in Scotland, but there are no non-stops for San Francisco. Heathrow has better flight choices but I forgot about the Olympics. Will this be a problem? I'll be coming into King's Cross on the train and need suggestions as to where to stay that is relatively inexpensive (for London that is) and convenient for the airport. I haven't booked my flight yet and can still opt for Glasgow.

You can try the Yotel inside Heathrow. We stayed at the one inside Gatwick and it was pretty affordable and very convenient for the morning flight to already be inside the airport.

June 6th is before the Olympics. In the immediate vicinity of Kings Cross St Pancras are a Premier Inn, a Travelodge, an Ibis (at Euston) and of course the super deluxe newly renovated at a cost of the GNP of a small nation Crown Plaza at St Pancras. Maybe you have some (many) points? KX- St Pancras is easy to Heathrow by Underground.

At Heathrow - Jury's Inn...it has access to the airport via the shuttle service. Stayed there and found it to be nice and good location.

We were also happy with Jury's Inn. We arrived very late and were glad to be able to get a sandwich in their restaurant. Our deal included breakfast (which may have been their error but they honored it without problem that morning), and the shuttle was very convenient.
