Any ideas on places to stay and/or location for a quick visit to London. We will be flying into Heathrow and train onto Paris vis Eurostar.
For convenience, I'd probably pick a hotel near Kings Cross/St Pancras. When you arrive at Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line directly to your hotel.
I don't have any personal recommendations, but I frequently see recommendations on tripadvisor for the Premier Inn. This question comes up frequently on the London Forum there, so you might do a search on tripadvisor.
I would agree that there is an ease factor associated with staying near the train stations. Certainly the ibis/premier travel inn/travelodge are cookie cutters you would be familiar with from the states.
That said I believe on Argyle street there are a row of small B+B places that might provide something different. They are very hit or miss but with tripadvisor you can get some good feedback.
I've stayed at the Crestfield Hotel for one night in the same situation. It is almost across the street from the train station. Rates are reasonable. The Piccadilly line (Tube) runs directly from Heathrow to Kings Cross/St. Pancras. If you make a reservation there, tell them when you will arrive. I've been able to arrive at 9 Am and go directly to my room.
