hotel choices in London

Staying in London 2 nights pre cruise. Looking for good hotel in the $250-$350 per night range, well located near attractions and theater. Any suggestions? Kensington or St James, which is better located area.

The Kensington Gore is very well located, close to the South Kensington tube station, and very highly rated. We stayed on the same street in an apartment for nine nights last Fall and loved it. You're just a couple minutes away from Hyde Park and the V&A. I don't know anything about St James maybe someone else can chime in.

You could try the Renaissance Chancery Court outside Holborn station - a great hotel and quite convenient to the theaters and the British Museum and almost on top of the tube.

For an excellent location, Green Park Hilton. The hotel is average and the air-conditioning is noisy, but the location is super--Simply Food and Pret right around the corner, within a mile or less are theatres, Westminster Abbey, St.James Park, the Globe Theatre, Hyde Park, etc. We walked everywhere from there--have used this hotel four times.
