What hostels do you recommend near Blarney? I was looking at the Kinlay House and Sheila's, both in Cork. Would anyone recommend either of those or is there another one that you would suggest. We are traveling on a very tight budget and as much as I would love to stay at a B&B, I just can't afford it. thanks!

Are you factoring in what it will cost to get to Blarney from Cork by public transportation (if that is how you are traveling)? We stayed in a very nice and inexpensive B&B right in Blarney, called The White House, but there are several there. I don't use hostels so I am not sure how you would find them.
If you stay in a hostel in Cork, the bus journey to Blarney is about 30 minutes (around 6 euros return). Therefore, you may end up saving just a couple of pounds. Try this B&B in Blarney http://www.travelaholics.com/bed-and-breakfasts/ireland/cork/blarney/claragh-bed-and-breakfast/a73364/
Hostelworld.com has lots of reviews from travelers if you are looking for information on specific hostels or want to compare prices against other hostels in that area. From your post, it sounds like you have a travel partner, so do take into consideration that unless you are each responsible for paying your own way and are willing to stay in a multi-bed shared dorm room with a shared bathroom, private double rooms in a hostel (especially ensuite ones with their own bathroom) can often cost just as much as a double in a B&B. Of course with a hostel, you can shave some money off your budget by using the kitchen to pack a lunch and prepare dinner. Some hostels (though not all of them) offer a really simple breakfast in the price - but it's nothing like what you will get in a B&B (typically some bread left out for toast, a box of cereal, some milk and maybe a pot of tea) so don't expect a full Irish breakfast at a hostel with eggs, sausage, etc.
