Hostels in Copenhagen

I may be traveling to Copenhagen in Apr. (2014) and am looking for economical accommodations. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced hostel (I already looked at Generator which seems expensive- $121 per night for 2 people in a private room) or a good AIRbnb accommodation or an inexpensive but decent hotel? Will be staying 6 days.

Someone will suggest Rick's favorite B&B, which might be your best bet in April. We stayed at the Phoenix and the Opera. I'd expect Opera is a little cheaper and very convenient. The Strand is another nice budget hotel in the area. Unfortunately, Copenhagen hosts lots of business/convention travel so hotels can be both full and expensive except in the summer.

I am also planning a short stay in Copenhagen, in May 2014, and based on the research I've done so far, $121 for a private room in Copenhagen seems fairly reasonable, especially if you are looking for a "nicer" hostel that doesn't cater to gap year student partiers who don't really care where they sleep. You may want to look more into Airbnb. It sounds like we are looking for the same type of accommodations, and Airbnb is my go-to when private rooms in hostels exceed the $100/night neighborhood. Our trip isn't for a while, but I will post if I find a good Airbnb for our stay.

Airbnb seems to have the best prices. We will be visiting our daughter who will be studying in Copenhagen in the city center. All of airbnb's accommodations seem to be a bit out of town. Will have to research distances.

Take a look at the Omena Hotel. It's a budget chain where the hotels don't have lobbies. You are sent a door code to get in. We stayed in one in Helsinki, and while it was tight for the four of us, it was clean, had coffee, a fridge and microwave. Looks like it would be around $120/night and it's near Tivoli.
