Hop On-Off Bus Tours and the Free River Cruise to Greenwich?

I am thinking about the Hop on/off bus tours. Specifically the Original Sightseeing Tour one. I see there is a form of free river transportation to Greenwhich offered with the pass. Has anyone ever taken this? How long is the journey?
I would not mind going to the Maritime Museum... Thanks!

The short journey to Greenwich is included on the oyster card as well, part of the trip is by DLR, Docklands Light Rail. You can also opt to take the river ferry one way only I think. Greenwich has a great market on certain days and the maritime museum is a national treasure not to be missed. Google Greenwich and you can find sites with all sorts of info or go to www.tripadvisor.com, Greenwich forum, and ask questions. Greenwich experts can put you onto some great places there.

Hi Nicole, I rode on the Big Bus Tour in London a few years ago, and it was great. We had a live commentator on our bus, which was a nice surprise. Like you, we had intended to take the Original Sightseeing bus tour, but after waiting 45 minutes in front of St. Paul's and not seeing one come by, we decided to go with the other company. I believe we took the red line tour and it was about 25 GBP. Unfortunately, we didn't go to Greenwich so I can't help you with any info there. Have fun!

Nicole, We used the hop-on-hop-off several years ago and took the trip to Greenwich. I can't remember the time, but I think about 45 min-1 hour one way. It's a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. I know we were at the obseratory at closing, so the boat ride was in the PM when we could use a "good sit". One thing we did was intentionally buy our ticket (good for 24 hours) not first thing in the morning, but about 9-9:30. That way we could use the bus on a different route the next morning to use as transit to some place we wanted to visit the second day.

Yes, The Maritime Museum is great. If you can, take the boat all the way to the Barrier and get off in Greenwich on the way back...it's just a short trip and I thought, a very interesting one. Also walk thru the tunnel under the Thames. You can get good photos of Greenwich from accross the river.

Took the Greenwich boat a few months ago, but not the free one. I want to say it took about 45 minutes when leaving from around Westminister. The Maritime Museum is worth a trip.

We took the Hop-On, Hop-Off a couple of years ago. I think it was the 'Big Bus', but I'm not sure it matters. Be sure you get one with live guides. We took the bus in the late afternoon on our first day there to get an overview and note the layout of London-very helpful. The next day I (an Earth Science teacher) took the included cruise (about 45 min) to Greenwich and then went up the hill there to the Greenwich Observatory and marker at O degrees longitude. I still had enough time to ride the Ho Ho bus for a while when I got back from Greenwich. For us it was well worth the money spent.
