We intend to do our own Norway in a Nutshell.

Rick isn't here. We are a bunch of fellow travelers who (hopefully) have some insight.
It's fine to stay around Flåm for a night (there are some cute villages nearby - see the RS book) but Flåm itself is a bore. It's mainly just a transport hub.
It's fine to do the nutshell on your own. We did.
Bergen is fun, but by itself, not worth 3 nights unless you are taking excursions out of town.
You might consider spending 2 nights in Balestrand en route on the nutshell trail (NW of Flåm, through the fjord via boat), then only 2 nights in Bergen. So your 6 nights would be 2+2+2. There are other options, too.
