I'm going to be travelling to Helsinki on business, what is good to see and do beyond what is mentioned by RS?

Rick's book pretty much covers all things most all things in the city. How long are you going to be there? You can do a day trip to Tallin Estonia. There is an overnight ferry and cheap flights to Stockholm. Or if you are feeling adventurous and have a few days to spare you could spend overnight in an Ice Hotel: www.snowcastle.net/en/

When you arrive, go to the Tourist Information Office at the airport or downtown and take some brochures about the city.
Ask about self-guided walking tours and bus tours of the city. They are cheap and entertaining.
I can also recommend a day trip to Tallinn. We took the hovercraft over and back. When we were there in 2000 it was faster than the ferry and cheaper.
Tallinn is old world with a walled part. For me, it is more interesting than anything Helsinki has to offer.
