Help with Copenhagen and Brief Norway and Sweden itinerary

Does this make sense?
4/3 Bergen morning flight or early afternoon.
4/4 Norway in a Nutshell back to Bergen
4/5 12:40 flight to Stockholm (1night; too short???)
4/6 13:10 flight to Kiruna
3 nights to stay 1 night in ice hotel and go dog sledding, snow mobiling, a Sami culture excursion with reindeer for my little one; maybe ice sculpting and a moose safari if we can fit it in. If I can do this in 2 nights, I would prefer it so we can have more time in Stockholm

4/9 1:45 flight back to Copenhagen arriving at 17:25
4/10 Free day with no planes!
4/11 Morning flight back to the States

I've been trying to do all the SAS flights using Onepass frequent flyers but we have too many stops. I'm questioning if I need to drop Norway in a Nutshell and then spend more time in Stockholm. Stockholm is on the way from Copenhagen to Kiruna so we're allowed to stop there and stay as long as we want. The only other ways I can figure out to create more time in Stockholm is to drop 1 night in Kiruna or switch things around.

Instead of travelling to Stockholm from Bergen after the long day on the Norway in a Nutshell tour, we'd go straight to Kiruna. But, that involves 2 connections and takes over 5 hours. This might be awful to do after the nutshell tour. That's why I was stopping in Stockholm on my way up to Kiruna. Going straight to Kiruna first, will give me more time in Stockholm. We'd arrive at 14:40; stay overnight and then leave for Copenhagen either at 6:05pm or 8:35pm. I really don't want to be on a plane on Saturday since we're flying home on Sunday. So, is it worth pushing this all because I want to do Norway in a Nutshell? Figured we should stop in Stockholm since we're connecting through there and we will be in Sweden! My original plan was to stay at the ice hotel in Alta, Norway but the prices were totally outrageous.

Steve, thanks for your reply. I did check into the overnight ferry to Oslo. The nutshell roundtrip from Oslo is so much longer than the Bergen roundtrip and my husband isn't even keen on the Bergen roundtrip. I was more interested in seeing Bergen than Oslo. Now, I'm thinking I have to chose between the Nutshell tour and Stockholm! I will check out the timing of things if we do the ferry. I believe the ferry does not get us to Oslo in time to jump on the Nutshell tour so we'd have to spend the day there.

Have you thought about instead of flying into Bergen fly to Kirkenes, Norway. It's 250 north of the Artic Circle. It's part of the Varanger Fjord. You will see thousands of reindeer, also Sami culture is there. It sits on the Russian border. Fantastic place to visit. If you had time you could get a tour up to the North Kapp. North Kapp is the most northerly point reachable by land in continental Europe. It's 1600km from the North Pole. North Kapp is beautiful.

Susan, It sounds to me like you are trying to cram too much into a short period of time. (I'm often guilty of this myself.) Norway in a Nutshell is great, but I would save it for another trip. You'll want to have time to enjoy Stockholm, which is a beautiful city.

I spent a few days in Kiruna a couple of years ago, but in the summer. I envy (sort of) your planned visit to the ice hotel. We were there during a big moose festival of some kind. Lots of fun. A lot of the locals up there don't look typically Swedish. You can tell you're a long way from home.

Stockholm is indeed great (and expensive). Gamla Stan (old town Stockholm) is wonderful. Outside of there, it's a very modern-looking city. We loved touring Skansen, an open air museum where they've brought in lots of old Swedish houses and commercial buildings for display and preservation of the "old ways". You can go into the houses, and they're probably heated in winter so you would probably enjoy a visit there even in cold weather.

Also visit the Vasa, a huge (for the time), ornate warship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. They found it in the 1950s, raised it, restored it, and put it on display in an indoor museum. Very interesting.

Everyone, thank you for your replies. I did check into Kirkenes and it is as expensive as Alta, Norway which made me switch to the ice hotel in Kiruna, Sweden. It will cost $1480 for my family for one night in the hotel. That does include airport transfers, dinner and breakfast but that's just for one night. The fees for the dog sledding and snowmobiles are much higher than in Sweden!

I agree that I would need more time in Stockholm. I either need to drop that or the Nutshell tour. My daughter will probably vote for the Nutshell. That's such a different experience than Stockholm. That's why I'm so torn! Has anyone done both? Which would you choose? I originally thought that I'd stay away from the cities since my 7 year old would get very bored and whine if I dragged her to museums, etc...
