Help with 8-Day Scandinavia Itinerary

Hello everyone - we are working on our itinerary for Scandinavia in August and are hoping for some suggestions. We have a shorter time than we hoped because we are headed to Dublin to meet family for the last half of our trip so only have 8 days and want to get a taste of everything to know where to spend more time when we get back. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Day 1: Copenhagen Day 2: Copenhagen Day 3: Copenhagen Day 4: Copenhagen and overnight cruise to Oslo Day 5: Oslo Day 6: Norway in a Nutshell (one way from Oslo to Bergen; overnight Bergen) Day 7: Bergen morning; afternoon flight to Stockholm Day 8: Stockholm
Day 9: Stockholm morning; afternoon flight to Dublin Anything we should remove or shorten or add? Thanks so much for the help!

I can't speak to Norway. I think you are short on Stockholm, but the only choice you have is to pull from Copenhagen. Not ideal but if it were me (having hindsight of being there and knowing which I prefer), I'd spend an extra day in Stockholm. That would give you time to see the city and take an archipelago cruise.

Thanks for the comments. We are going to either cut a day out in Copenhagen or get to Dublin a little later. I appreciate the help!

If you like natural scenery more time should be spent enjoying the fjords. We stayed in Flam and did the fjordsafari cruise, train to Myrdal and rented bikes and rode back to Flam, and sea kayaking. We had a car and could drive around the area, too. I ride mountain bikes and dirt bikes and the first part of the bike ride is sketchy if you have a fear of heights and are not used to riding on bumpy terrain, especially the upper portions of the switchbacks. Go slowly or walk the bike until you are comfortable with the terrain. Once you complete the switchbacks you can almost coast back to town.

I would also suggest dropping a day from Copenhagen and adding it to Stockholm. I might even drop another day from Copenhagen to see more of the fjords. Another day in Bergen would be nice or a stop on the fjords such as Balestrand. I think you can see the best sites in Copenhagen in two full days. With three full days, I would consider a side trip to Roskilde.

This is a tough one because you have some very good locations listed here. We actually spent 7 days in Copenhagen on our first trip there (part in Copenhagen, part taking the train to sites outside) - it was very nice. But, I will have to say we don't like to go at a fast pace - we like to see things and then just be there. On the other hand, we have spent as much time in Stockholm which is also very nice - so much to see. As much as I like Copenhagen, I think I would take one day off of that and add it to Stockholm.

Thanks again everyone. This is so helpful. It is so hard when you don't have as much time as you had hoped. We will definitely stay longer in Stockholm and are considering 1 more day in Norway. Too much to do and not enough time :)
