Going in mid-March and trying to decide whether to drive clockwise or anti-clockwise. Already have air/car booked; SNN was not an option. Monday: Arrive DUB 05:30, drive to Kilkenny via Glendalough. Sleep Kilkenny. Tuesday: Drive to Dingle via Rock of Cashel. Sleep Dingle. Wednesday: Dingle Peninsula. Sleep Dingle. Thursday: Drive to Doolin via Cliffs of Moher & Burren. Sleep Doolin. Friday: Drive to DUB via Athenry & Athlone. Return car.
Weekend in DUB before Monday return. Sound reasonable? Would the first night in Doolin and Thursday in Kilkenny make any more or less sense? Discuss. Thanks.
Sounds reasonable to me! If the weather is clear when you get to Tralee, drive over Connor Pass on your way to Dingle. You may not get another chance. On your way from Dingle to Doolin take the ferry across the Shannon River. In March the ferry departs from Tarbert every hour on the half hour.
Looks good to me, too.
I agree with Carroll. Your original plan sounds like the best. Doolin is a much farther drive than Kilkenny.
What are your thoughts on the reverse? Mon: Doolin Tues: Dingle Wed: Dingle Thur: Kilkenny
F,S,S: Dublin See any pros/cons of starting at one vs. the other? Yes, the ferry was definitely in my plan whichever was we drive the loop. Thanks for the feedback!
I would pick whichever route involves the least number of hours driving on your first day. I'm guessing that's your first option which is driving to Kilkenny. You don't want to pack to much in that first day, because you may be a little tired after the flight.
