It appears many things close down at 19:00. Any suggestions other than pubs, restaurants, theatre, or the London Eye for things to do and see around London at night? Thanks in advance.
take a walk along the thames. seeing big ben and parliment at night is amazing!!! its a great evening!
On Thursday evenings, many of the department stores on Oxford Street stay open until 21:00 or 21:30. Harrods is open during the week until 20:00. Also check the museum schedules - many of them stay open late at least one day a week (British museum and Portrait Gallery are open late Thurs/Fri, V&A open until 22:00 on Fri., etc...). Some of the rooms might be closed but their main permanent collections are usually open. St. Martin in the fields has concerts in the evenings at either 19:30 or 20:00 - check the schedule on their website. There is also an evening bus tour of London at night - if it's not raining then bundle up and enjoys the sights from the open top bus.

Free movie screenings on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until the end of June click here for more information.
We saw the play "39 steps" last month and we saw the Lion King.........both plays were well worth the time and money!!!
A river boat ride would be very pleasant too!
Book yourself an evening walking tour.
Take an open top bus tour.
Head out to Alexandra Palace at dusk and climb the hill and watch all the city lights come on.
Walk through Green Park or St. James' Park ( both very safe in the evening ).
Head for Covent Garden and watch the street entertainers.
Actually, most of the time, I ams o exhausted after my day walking around London, I don't need any more activities!! The theater is the #1 attraction at night in London. Another great choice are some of the London Walking Tours which take place in the evening. Very reasonably priced, they have terrific guides. Google their web site...they have an enormous choice. They also do out-of-London trips on weekends.
I took the Westminster at night tour which included a stop at a pub near the Houses of Parliament, as well as a visit to the galleries in the House of Commons. (they usually sit (meet) in the evenings.
Well we got there and there was a very important debate going on and all sorts of famous people in attendance so a bunch of us ditched the rest of the tour and stayed to watch! Talk about serendipidy!! Margaret Thatcher was attending in her role as member of the House of lords. Very exciting. This was in January...the members of Parliament might be on holiday in the summer.
Thanks everyone for all your great ideas/suggestions. My family members are already in London, and are following these suggestions, and also spoke with a local and found a square near Soho which has lots of shops, and outdoor music concerts in the evenings. They are headed for Paris on the Eurostar early in the morning. Thanks so much again, all of you!!!
