Help me with my Ireland travel itinerary!

Hello,

My boyfriend and I found a fantastic vacation deal to Ireland, including roundtrip airfare, six nights' stay at the Ritz-Carlton at Powerscourt (south of Dublin) and a rental car. While we could probably spend all six days exploring the Dublin area, I'm interested in seeing other parts of Ireland -- especially since we already have a rental car. But is it worth it to give up one or two already-paid for nights at the Ritz to explore southern or western Ireland? And, logistically, what is possible by car in six days without getting exhausted from driving?

Because we have only six days, it seems as if we should focus on eastern (and maybe do-able southern) Ireland. But I keep hearing such fabulous things about Dingle...

Suggestions are welcome!

Hi, Sara, from 50 miles south! I saw this same deal and it looks great...but with your accommodations included at what looks like a great hotel, you might want to just stay on the east side with the knowledge that you'll be returning someday to Shannon airport and stay on the west coast then. That, or just suck it up and get a B&B to the west while keeping your hotel room. To me, there's so much that will be in your proximity (Cashel, Powerscourt, Glendallough, Newgrange, Tara, etc.) in addition to all that Dublin offers, I think I'd stay put.

It's a shame to waste your nights at the Ritz. I would probably ask about extending my return flight and rental car or switch your return to Shannon a few days later. Most deals accomodate those types of requests.
