I have never been but my Mother went. She wasn't
that excited about it, and she had heavily travelead all over the UK and visited many castles, historic houses, etc.

I think Windsor is far more interesting and Buckingham Palace (when open --usually in August).
If you have a strong interest in the Royals maybe\it may be worth it to you. Rather ugly house though.
But lots of recent British Royal history took place there. I believe it was Edward VII who bought it for the famly so it is a comparative newcomer to the roster of royal residences.Queen Alexandra loved it and filled it with clutter! George VI died there.

Personally I would not go out of my way to go but only you can make that choice. I would rather go to
Balmoral in Scotland. I didn't think Buck. Palcce was that great as there is an overdose of gilt, etc. in the State Rooms but interesting to be able to peek inside!!!

I was just there in April, and, on a scale of 1 to 5, it's a 3. The building is not much to look at, but the history of the place is quite interesting and there's a very nice museum with lots of memorabelia of the Windsor family, including a large collection of cars. Most of the people visiting seemed to be from the local area who went to enjoy the parkland and have a picnic. Princess Diana was born on the property.
I was in the area to see Ely Cathedral and the horse farms around Newmarket, otherwise wouldn't have made a special trip out to Sandringham.
