Help, Ireland suggestions

We are flying into Dublin on a Monday, renting a car and driving to Doolin to check out the Cliffs of Moher and perhaps the Burren. We're spending the night at a B&B in Doolin and hopefully finding a pub there to check out some music (we have children so I think it will be an early night). Then we don't know what to do, where to go! We do plan on heading back to Dublin on Thursday to explore and prepare for our early flight out on Friday. What do you think we should do between Tuesday and Thursday? We have two children (6 and 9) and don't want to drive more than 2-3 hours a day. We have no reservations for Tuesday through Friday (we've been looking at Egan House in Dublin for that last night, but haven't booked yet). HELP!!

Driving from Dublin to Doolin will take around 5 hours. It's a bit longer than you want to drive, but doable in a day. I wouldn't count on seeing both the Cliffs and the Burren on that day. Stay 2 nights in Doolin. You can see whatever you didn't see in Tuesday, and, if the weather's good, you can take the ferry to the Aran Islands and explore around there. We went to Inisheer, the closest one to Doolin. There's ruins of a castle and a great playground there. We took my sister's older kids to the pubs with us. If I'm understanding it right, you can have kids there until 9pm. There is one pub in town that doesn't allow kids, period, they have a sign outside telling you that. We stayed at Brookman Townhomes with our kids in Dublin. It's just a bit outside of city centre. We had a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom townhome. Their website is www.brookman.ie. Another option would be to stay by the airport. We stayed at Bewley's, they have family rooms. They have a free shuttle to the airport, and there you can catch a bus into town. There's nothing out there by the hotel.
