Heathtrow to London- Transport with tired kids

We will arriving at London Heathrow on a Saturday in July, staying in South Kensington. We will have to young children in tow and I am wondering the best (not necessarily the cheapest) way to get from the airport to the city. I have heard of minicabs as an option but don't know the cost.
Thanks!

Piccadilly line on the tube, get off at the South Kensington or Gloucester stop, depending on where your hotel is. You can google map it.. There is a Heathrow Connect train for 7 pounds but you would still have to transfer to the tube at Paddington station. Or the Express for 15 pounds. They dont save much time and would make you more frustrated with the transfer at Paddington anyhow.
I usually stay in Earls ct in the Kensington area as well. It takes about 35 minutes on the tube to get there. Youll all be tired, its one of those things where you just have to bite the bullet, get to the hotel, shower, eat and rest. A cab will cost a fortune and will not be much faster. Message me for more info on anything else in that area since i know it pretty well!! Cheers!

Picadilly Line takes 45 minutes to get to South Kensington and is the easiest way from the airport and the cheapest at 4 pounds a head. But if you're worried the kids might not be controllable or comfortable on a long train ride a taxi is another option. Sounds like you'll be 4 people and a taxi would run 45 pounds or so but be direct and fast (taxis are the only other vehicles that can use the bus lanes other than busses). Depending on how much luggage you will be bringing (with 2 kids it might be a bit) a taxi might be the best for you as it will take you to your door. The other thing to think about is that in July it might be pretty hot and more comfortable in an air-conditioned taxi than in a hot non-air-conditioned train.

A minicab probably wouldn't be big enough to handle four people plus luggage. Your best bet for a door-to-door ride would be a car service like Just Airports. There is a good discount for paying cash. You will need either an estate (station wagon) or a MPV (minivan). South Kensington is in postal code SW7 so the cash fare for an estate would be £34 and for a MPV it would be £44.
