Landing in July at Heathrow - 7am. Thought I'd go to WIndsor, if I can store my luggage whist visiting the city and castle. But the train from Heathrow looks like it takes an hour, whilst it takes 27min from Paddington. Anyone tried this before?

Windsor has two train stations, sadly neither have lockers or luggage storage of any kind. Got get to Windsor from Heathrow it's best to use a taxi, it's a short trip- Windsor borders the airport.
A couple of years ago, we took a van from Heathrow to Windsor. I haven't looked recently, but this option was listed in Rick Steves' travel book. Actually, this was the year after 9/11 - there were virtually no travelers when we went - only 4 of us on the van, and it took us right across the street from the castle.
