We have been to Bath already. Any other suggestions to take bus from Heathrow and pick up car??

Though we have never driven in the UK, Windsor is not far from Heathrow and is a wonderful town to visit. The castle is my favorite!

Hi Katherine, Slough would be good place to pick up a car. We have picked up cars in Slough before.
Slough is about 8 miles from Heathrow. I don't think you will found a car rental agency in Windsor. But Windsor would be a great place to send the first night, then the next day take cab to Slough the next day. Slough is 3 1/2 miles from Windsor.

Winchester is an interesting small cathedral city about an hour west of Heathrow. Once there you are near Salisbury, Stonehenge, and Avebury. I don't know if buses go there from Heathrow.

Yes, there is a National Express bus from Heathrow to Winchester.I have taken it many times. It is about an hour's journey.

There's also a Nat'l Express bus from LHR to Oxford. It's a good starting point if you want to see Blenheim & the Cotswolds first. All major rental companies are there.
