heathrow to london and 2 for 1 deals

Hello all, pardon me for asking this question, but I can't seem to get it straight from reading the posts here and rick's london book. is the station at heathrow one of the national rail stations, such that if i buy a travelcard there i can use it for the 2 for 1 deals? what if i buy a ticket for the heathrow express or connectwould these tickets work for the 2 for 1 deals? thank you for having patience with me.

Brian, I used the search function on the first page of the Traveler's Helpline and an older post (2009) from one of the regular posters indicated that the station in Heathrow was not a National Rail Station, so tickets sold there would not qualify for the 2 for 1 deals. I'm assuming that would also include the Heathrow Express and Connect. If you take the Express into London, you could buy your travelcards at the rail station at Paddington when you arrive there. Just make sure you're at the railway ticket window, NOT the underground ticket window. You need to have the "crow's foot" National Rail symbol on your card. You can get 2 for 1 deals only on the days covered by your card, so even if the ticket on the Express or Connect qualified, you would have to use it that day for a 2 for 1 deal. If you decide not to take the Express or Connect, you can buy a ticket for the Tube to get into London and buy a travel card at any mainline railway station convenient for you. You can even buy it the day you arrive, say Tuesday, and have it dated to start using it on Wednesday. My husband and I did that this fall since we were in London for 8 days and had use of Oyster Cards for the first day. Hope this helps.
