My daughter is leaving for a study abroad program, and will be arriving in London alone (first trip to Europe). What is the easiest/best way for her to get from Heathrow to her hotel in the Lancaster Gate area? Thanks!
She can take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station. From there she can walk to Lancaster Gate (about 8-10 min.) or take Route Bus 46 (about 4 min.).
The cheapest way would be to take the tube: Piccadilly line from Heathrow to Earl's Court, District line to Notting Hill Gate, Central line to Lancaster Gate. However, once she gets on the District line at Earl's Court, the final route depends upon which tube station is closest to her hotel. It might not be Lancaster Gate. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk to download and print a tube map.
If she has a lot of luggage, a private car service would be better. Many people recommend www.justairports.com. You'll need to enter the Lancaster Gate area postal code, W2, to determine the fare. There is a sizeable discount for paying cash.
Thank you both for the helpful replies!
