I would like to stay near Heathrow the night before flying back to the states July 1st-leaving out of Terminal 3. I am seeing positive things about the different Holiday Inns-any specific thoughts -I have read the previous posts, just would like an . Would like to be near the Hoppa Bus/and or local busses to the terminal. Have also been researching the London toolkit-still would love to hear new opinions. If at all possible have a hotel near a pub vs. hotel restaurants. Female traveling solo. Have taken the tube before to Heathrow from Central London. The plane leaves at 11:00. Thanks very much for your help, and ideas.
Skipped a word in my post--would like an UPDATE ... ( thanks)
With an 11:00 flight you could stay in London, near the tube stop or Paddington for the Heathrow Express.
I, too, prefer to stay near the airport for a morning flight. You have to be there so early in the morning, and this eliminates the hassle of getting out of the city during the bustle of rush hour. I haven't stayed at the Holiday Inn, but I have stayed at Jury's Inn and it was completely satisfactory and convenient. There is a tube stop and city bus stop near by and the Hoppa bus stops right in front. I believe it is the only hotel near the airport that is also near a tube stop, but there is no pub near that hotel. I believe just about all the hotels in that area are served by the Hoppa Bus to the airport, so that shouldn't be a problem with any of them.
Since you're familiar with the London Toolkit site, I expect you've come across the Heathrow Lodge. I haven't stayed there, but it looks it has what you're looking for.
Thanks for the great replys-would like any other suggestions-keep them coming !
We too looked at all the choices and stayed at Jury's Inn last Thursday and flew back to Tulsa Friday around 9:30 AM. We caught the Hoppa Bus that comes right to the front door for about 4.5 pounds each I think, bought the tickets when we checked in. It was very handy and the bus starts at 5AM and runs every hour or half hour, I forget. We got the 5AM bus then went to American Airlines admiral club for free pastries, coffee and morning papers. AA had a deal whereby I could join the club for 30 days for $99 and include one guest, my wife. It was well worth the money for a relaxing place to enjoy free beverages and snacks like cookies or bar mix. Booze was complimentary as well. We always arrive 3-4 hours early when flying overseas and we usually avoid all the stress when the lines are very long. We are in no rush and can enjoy people watching and the quiet atmosphere of the AA club. Other airlines might have the same sort of deal.
Jury's inn was just what we needed, comfortable, helpful staff, and only minutes from Terminal 3 by Hoppa bus.
