We have a flight from Heathrow to Tampa (unfortunately, not direct) that leaves at 11 am (ish) and will be arriving from Ireland, so we will want to get to the Heathrow area the day before. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation? Nothing fancy, but clean will do. Thanks. I'll also check tripadvisor.
I vote for Jurys Inn also. Nice, very clean, amazingly quiet (under the flight path), and even good food. Weekend nights are inexpensive.

Similar situatiion in November....I stayed at the Jurry's Inn..you can get there via taxi or the Hoppa Express which goes to the area hotels. Nice and clean as well.
I would suggest staying in Windsor...it's a 15 minute cab ride from Heathrow. Clarence Hotel in Windsor or Alma Lodge in Windsor, both are a 5 minute walk to the town center where Windsor Castle. Windsor has great pubs, restaurants and cafes for tea...you would enjoy your short stay.
We did Jury's too...very convenient to airport, had supper there upon late arrival, big breakfast buffet to fly home on. Nice room, no complaints.
I stayed in the Sofitel at Terminal 5 last fall when I had to catch an 11 am flight. Made the morning much more manageable and pleasant, so I would definitely recommend staying at Heathrow the night before a morning flight. The Sofitel is expensive and a bit of a splurge. Also very, very large and very modern. It's advantage is that it is in Terminal 5 and an easy walk to the free trains to the other terminals.
there is a hotel hoppa bus that services most of the Heathrow area hotels from heathrow. Check with your hotel. Dont have to stay on heathrow to be convenient for a morning flight
Thanks for the replies, guys. It now looks as if we'll have to fly from Derry to Stansted and then transfer to Heathrow, probably with National Express? I have found the Hoppa bus on line, so we know that we can get from the hotel to Heathrow easily enough. I've also discovered that we'll be flying out of Terminal 1.
Yes, taking a National Express coach directly from Stansted to Heathrow is the simplest route. If you stay at the Jurys Inn, you don't need to pay for the Hoppa Bus. You can ride free on city buses between Heathrow and Hatton Cross which is close by the Jurys Inn.
