Heathrow Early a.m. flight

In June, my husband, daughter, and I will have a 7:05 a.m. flight out of London from Heathrow's new terminal 5. Should we sleep in a nearby hotel and take the hoppa bus? We wouldn't mind staying in London and taking the express train but I am not sure that it will get us to Heathrow in time or even if we will be able to reach Paddington station to take the first train as the tube doesn't run until 5 a.m. Of course, the easiest solution is the hotel in Terminal 5 but $400 a night is not quite in our budget! Help!

Work backwards....you need to be at LHR 2 hours before your flight (5 AM). It takes about an hour to get to Heathrow by Tube (4 AM) or 20 minutes by Heathrow Express. (4:40)

However, the first Heathrow Express train doesn't leave Paddington until 5:10 so you would arrive at T5 at 5:30. That's cutting it close. (To get to Paddington that early you'd have to take a cab.)

I would stay near Heathrow the night before.

The other choice is the Yotel in Terminal 4 but you'd have to get 2 rooms.

The Travelodge Terminal 5 is perfectly adequate with rooms in the $25 to $100 range depending on dates

Easyhotel in Heathrow is about 25 pounds a night. www.easyhotel.com

Basic bed and bathroom en suite. Nothing fancy but I always stay at the one in Kensington and it works for me.
