We will be staying near Heathrow in May '13 before flying out the next morning. No car. Need a decent place not too pricey with transport to Terminal 5. Have you stayed at Heathrow Lodge, Travelodge Terminal 5, Comfort Hotel, or Ibis Heathrow? Thanks for suggestions. Julia
Hi Julia, Sorry, I can't say I have stayed at either of those 4, but I do have friends that consistantly stay at the Jury's Inn. They love it for an inexpensive, simple airport hotel. Jessica
I stayed at the Premier Inn, Bath Road. It is served (as are all Heathrow Hotels) by the Hoppa Bus. Pleasant hotel, good service, decent restaurant and reasonable cost. Certainly the best deal I have come across in years of flying Into Heathrow.
I haven't stayed at any Heathrow hotel, but here's a link to a page on the London Toolkit site that lists all the airport hotels and provides links to detailed information on each one.
We stayed at the Comfort Hotel a few weeks ago, and I would not really recommend it. It does have Hoppa Bus transport to the airport, and a decent enough restaurant, but otherwise, it is a really cheap-looking place. I was impressed by Premier Inn when we stayed in one near Newcastle, and wished I had booked one at Heathrow.
All of the hotels near the airport are served by the Hoppa bus, so it isn't necessary to pick one immediately next to your terminal. The Jury's Inn has the advantage of being near a tube stop, if you are coming in from London that way. We stayed there once before a trip to the US. It was clean and comfortable and had very good sound separation from the airport noise. The restaurant was nothing to write home about, though.
Thanks for the tips. The toolkit is so full of info and I like personal responses to places. Thanks. Julia
Another vote for Jury's Inn where we stayed in May prior to flying back to the US. Don't expect good food at any motel near any airport. We bought sandwiches at Heathrow, riding there on the Hoppa Bus and then back to the motel afterwards. We recently started utilizing a 30 day membership in the american Airlines admirals club for long layovers stateside and at Heathrow. Snacks, internet access, drinks, and a serene atmosphere with comfy chairs and couches are worth the expense. All airlines have these short memberships I think.
