I see that LondonWalks does a walk about Harry Potter now and I would probably trust them to do the best job.

I did do a google on Harry, but the results were very broad. The HP walk sounds very interesting. I'll also check out the link. Thanks!

A comment on the London Walks Harry Potter walk. I'm a big fan of London Walks ... have taken at least 2 dozen of them in the last 10 years.

However, the Harry Potter walk was extremely disappointing to me. A good portion of it has nothing to do with Harry Potter.

Who says you have to be teens. We're seniors and we just love Harry Potter. Have all 7 books plus Beetle the Bard. We've seen every movie. We'll be in England for 3 weeks in September and have already planned to visit a few of the Harry Potter places. Oxford is one. Kings Cross station is another. I understand that they have installed a 9-3/4 platform in the middle of a wall with a luggage cart sticking out of it.

Carolyn - It's probably going to be too far out of your way however

  1. Alnwick Castle - North of Newcastle is the castle used for the filming of the first couple of movies.

  2. Goathland - which is in the North York Moors is the steam train used for the Hogwarts Express.

Oxford has some sites that were used in the movies. And there is the 9 3/4 platform at Kings Cross rail station. Much of the movie was shot in Scotland. There is a train you can take that follows much of the filming route. I believe it is out of Ft. William. Try narrowing your search to Harry Potter filming sites or Harry Potter Movie locations.

Some locations used in the films are not accessible to the general public (i.e., Australia House in the Strand, London was used for the Gringott's Bank shots) and you can only see the outside of the building.

Thanks everyone. However, I never claimed not to be a Potter fan. Each of my 4 children (this is the last) has gotten a trip with Mum and I like to include a few unexpected suprises along with the culture, history, arts and tourism. Potter is one of her interests. Go Potter fans!
