half price tickets phantom of the opera

We want to see it in May and I was going to go to the half price booth on Leicester Square but does anyone know if this is dicey? Is it likely there will be tickets for this show or is it unlikely and I should pay full price and book in advance? Thanks. Just have no idea about this.

Here's the website that tells you what's on sale that day at the half price booth.

Watch Phantom. If it doesn't show up much, like it's not today, then buy tickets in advance. (You may have a better chance for a matinee or weekday evening performance rather than a weekend.)

We just returned from London and we utilized the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square (be aware - there are least half a dozen of them if not more - we discovered that when one didn't have seats available another might) however, during the time we were there Phantom was sold out as was "12th Night" which I highly recommend. Have a great trip!

A few strategies might improve your odds of seeing "Phantom" for half price. If you plan to arrive at the TKTS booth when it first opens, many other people will be doing the same thing, so plan on lengthy lines. There are two different lines - make sure you are standing in the correct one. If there are no tickets the first try, depending on your itinerary that day, you could check back later, in case the theatre had additional tickets to push. There is a board next to the sales window, showing the musicals and plays for that day. You might want to use this to choose a fall-back musical, in case those "Phantom" tickets are just not available.
