So our beloved Blackhawks are in the Stanley Cup Finals. So when we are in London where will we be able to watch? Also if they win and I want to surprise my kids new Stanley Cup Baseball caps is it easy to ship from US to a hotel in London? How fast could we get them there?
Three days, depending on what time it's dropped at a FedEx place.
NHL in their wisdom sold their UK TV rights to a fairly obscure channel called Premier Sports. Very unlikely this will be in a hotel - looks like you might have to head off to a specialist bar. The Maple Leaf in Covent Garden usually show ice hockey in following evening so you aren't so jet lagged, but there may well be some all night places.
What kind of hockey fan plans a trip to Europe during the playoffs?!! You don't see me in Europe. Whoops. :( Well, since my team is out of it, I'll watch for you. Or maybe we could trade places?
Well only had 1 3 week window in summer that would fit with my sons football practice schedule. Not to mention we made the plans before the lockout was finished and playoffs were pushed back.
All I can say is go Blackhawks! I would think that here in NYC that even the true locals (unlike midwestern / Chicago transplants) will root for Chicago as anything is better than a Boston win.
We are in the same boat! Hopefully we can catch some games on our SlingBox...even if it is the middle of the night!
I'm familiar with that story. It's hard to find time to get away. That said, I'd gladly trade places with you.
Our family is sorry that the Kings were eliminated. They went down fighting though. Our son is 36. He has followed the Kings, since he was 9 years old. He has season tickets.
Stanley Cup Baseball caps Wouldn't that be Stanley Cup Hockey caps? Or Stanley Cup Hockey Helmets? lol If it not les Habs its not Hockey. I'm from the days of Rocket Richard and Pocket Rocket. I'll even it up - GO BRUINS!!
Most pubs that show sports post what they're showing on their website... if you know where you're staying you can Google the surrounding pubs and check their websites, or email them. And yes, the Maple Leaf in Covent Garden does show hockey! But there are more. Here's a link to get you started: http://www.london-insider.co.uk/2010/05/best-pub-bars-watch-ice-hockey-london/
Oh puck it! Remember how most of the London Olympics was on tape delay? That's what you'll face given the 8 hour time difference. If you absolutely MUST see the games Something like Slingbox might worth the investment.
I think they may have played to triple overtime just so you could see the end at breakfast.
I am deeply sympathetic. I miss my beloved baseball over here.
So, go Blackhawks! Hah, Nigel! :) Pam
There is a big sports bar on Haymarket near Trafalgar Square, forget the name though. Google?
Hope you find something for tonight's second game and that the Blackhawks can get it done without the overtime! On the other hand, if you could count on it going into overtime, you could get up early to catch the ending. : )
