Does anyone know of a grocery store anywhere near Trinity COllege in Dublin? We will want to equip our kitchen for our 10 day stay.

Thanks.

We just got back from Dublin. We stayed in the Temple Bar area, which would be a little far to carry groceries to Trinity. There is a chain of grocery stores called SPAR, which would probably be your best bet. I'm sure anybody in the area could tell you where there is one. You can get a lot of info from hotel clerks--they don't know you're not staying there!

There is a Mark's & Spencer food hall located on Grafton Street. Grafton is the main pedestrian shopping district across the street (Nassau St) from Trinity College.

I just remembered that there is also a Tesco's Supermarket on Grafton St. It's on the far end of the street on the bottom floor of the indoor shopping mall.

As far as I remember there is also one of those 7-11 like Spar corner stores just across from Trinity College. But Tesco should be your best bet as it will definitely be the cheapest. But don't miss having a look at the Marks & Spencer's one as their selection of conveniance food is... very good.

Just a few blocks away, across from St. Stephens Green, is Dunne's Grocery Store. They're located in the lower level of the modern shopping mall. I seem to recall another location for them in Dublin that's mentioned in RS's book, but I don't have it with me today. I think you will find everything you need there, even fresh produce. Dunne's also operates a department store at that location.

I had good luck finding what I needed at Tesco. It's a chain grocery store in the city. I'd ask at the counter when you check in to your room about the nearest store. From my experience, the SPAR stores are more of a convenience store, like we'd have at a gas station in the states.

I somehow missed the food section of Dunnes that another poster mentioned. I did, however purchase a perfect size travel bath towel there. :)

Enjoy charming Dublin!
