It looks good, except:1) Why Cheltenham to see the Cotswolds? I've never seen Cheltenham suggested as a home base or location from which to visit the Cotswolds: rather large and so far out on the edge of everything, when there are so many better choices--perhaps you're traveling by train, even if so, Moreton-in-Marsh would be a better home base for a train traveler.2) As Robin says, much better to do Windsor as an easy day trip from London.
Hi Caroline, your itinerary sounds good, all but a couple of things. First, taking a day trip from Bath to Windsor is not very practical. Windsor is 94 miles from Bath. Plan to take a day trip from London to Windsor, get a train at Paddington Station in London to Windsor it's a 35 minute train ride. Windsor Castle is a two minute walk from the station. Then second, instead of staying in Cheltenham, I would stay in either Morton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water or Stow-on-the-Wold.
Kent and Robin - Thank you both for your replies! I was thinking Cheltenham because of its close location to Bath. I'll have to look into accommodation for your other suggestions. I know that Stow-on-the-Wold has a hostel, which would be the most practical for me, but it seems like it'll be hard to get to by train.
I'll make the change for Windsor. Thanks!
May I suggest Ambleside as place to stay in the Lakes rather than Keswick? We have stayed there twice, I believe it is much prettier and more centrally located than Keswick.
Tom
I would suggest forgetting Bath, spend more time in the the Cotswolds (Chipping Camden is very nice)including daytrip to Stonehenge, then an extra day for Stirling (Scotland) followed up with a couple of days in York.
