Grave of Winston Churchill

We were in the area of Bladon this summer and wanted very much to visit Churchill's grave. There were no signs or indications to the grave site and the church. We did not have a map with us and we know that the people of Bladon hate the tourists that come to do what we wanted to do. Could anybody give us a CLUE on where to find Mr C and his family for our next trip? We'd be ever so grateful....

When we were in Bladon, I never got the impression that the people of Bladon hate the tourists. Winston Churchill is buried in Saint Martins Churchyard.

Go to Google Maps and copy and paste the following coordinates into the search window (51.830208, -1.349816). You'll be at St. Martin's....logically, enought, it's on Church Street in Bladon.

When you get to the churchyard, read the graves carefully. A lot of family members are buried there so you have to wade through a group of Churchills before you get to Winston.

Just wondering, is John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough also burried in the same churchyard?

Nope....he was first interred at Westminster Abbey, but now rests in the chapel at Blenheim Palace (near Bladon.)

The Duchess Marlborough, wife of the 9th Duke of Marlborough is buried there.
