We're taking a 21 day tour around the island and we're looking to get a GPS unit before we leave Canada (as it's cheaper to buy it than rent it in Ireland!). Any recommendations on good models that have UK maps built in? We've looked at a few Garmin models... We're going to have a road map as well to help plan things too.

We bought a TomTom several years ago with US/Canada/Europe maps that we used for touring from Frankfurt, Germany's Black Forest, Munich, Salzburg and back to Frankfurt. From what I've read, TomTom does a better job in Europe. We also have a Garmin that doesn't seem to work near as well, (at least here in the US). We have been extremely happy with our TomTom and it was invaluable in Europe! One of the Irish B&B's we'll be staying at in June recommended checking your travel itinerary on www.aaireland.ie We have found that on a 5hour trip that this site adds an additional 30 minutes from Google Map's timing.
