We are planning a swing through Stockholm to see some friends and wondered if a side trip to Gotland in mid June was worth the time. Thoughts?

I really enjoyed Gotland for the couple of days that I spent there. The city of Visby has a medieval wall and many really charming small streets. There are also some nice sandy beaches (although in June the water will still be very cold) on the island and many small churches. I was there in early September and I rented a bike and biked around outside of Visby and to the beach out near Tofta. I do think that it merits a visit, but it may depend on how much time you have. You can take a ferry from Nynäshamn which is easy to get to from Stockholm by public transportation.
