We spent 2 nights in Goteborg at the FORMULE 1 motel. Read about it at: hotelformule1.com. (number 1)
Cost was $22 without breakfast at that time. Now 390 sek ($48) for the room which accommodates up to 3 people.
The rooms are a new concept. Bathrooms are all vinyl and stainless steel trim. Very sanitary. We like them; we stayed in the unit in Stockholm also. Write me if you have questions.

But Formule1 hotels do certainly not meet the criteria of a small, intimate place. These things are rock bottom discount hotels usually located in industrial suburbs near higways, and with minimum staffing. Very handy as one-night pitstops on a long journey across Europe, but not very cosy!
