I'm going to London myself at the beginning of March and am looking for some good social hostels in London. I want to be somewhere social to possibly find some travel partners for the day or for some good info on places to see or avoid, etc. I've been looking on the 'net for different places but its difficult cause the reviews are always so mixed. We stayed at Palmers Lodge over New Year's. It was one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The atmosphere was very social (large, communal breakfast tables, nice bar, advertised trips/tours, large community room with wifi and compters), but the beds had curtains around them for nighttime privacy. It is in Swiss Cottage, which is not in central London, but it directly on two convenient Tube line (Metropolitan and Jubilee) and a few bus lines. The front desk was very friendly and always willing to answer questions and give advice.
