Good "value" B&B's in London during July?

Hi everyone! My wife and I are making our first trip to London together, arriving July 4, 2011 and staying for about 6 nights. We're looking for a "cheaper" place to stay, and thought that maybe a B&B might be a good option (though we'd consider a budget hotel or vacation rental, as well). We're trying to spend less than Cdn$200 per night (so somewhere at or below GBP125). We don't need to be "right near the action", so long as we're close to good transit connections. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, as we'd like to book this weekend! Thanks!

I stay at Garden Court Hotel which includes breakfast. More like a B&B than hotel. recom also by RS. Elevator and a cinch to share showers/toliets down the hall.
Sink & TV in rooms. It is 2 blocks from Kensington Park so you can easily walk to many sights incl Victoria & Albert Museum. 2 blocks from tube station also. Hope it works for you.

There really aren't many/ any true b&bs in London. You might want to check out the London School of Economics. They have several sites and rent "extra" rooms/suites/student apartments to tourists. If your arrival falls after students have left, you might get REALLY good rates. I have looked at their site and some rooms go for as cheap as 60 GBP a night. Most have ensuite and all have either a kitchnett or access to a kitchen on the hall. One is just off Trafalgar Square (the Northumberland "dorm" site). The website is website, http://www.lsetopfloor.co.uk/default.htm

Geoff, You might have a look at This B&B Hotel in the Victoria Station area of London. It's not only within walking distance to many of the main sights but has easy access to transportation connections. Victoria Station is close, and the Victoria Coach station is right around the corner. The facilities are not luxurious, but very comfortable and the owners are wonderful. As I recall, they offer free Wi-Fi. There's a great Wine Bar at the end of the block. If you have a "generous budget", enjoy dinner at Santini's, which is in the same area. Happy travels!

Geoff, you may have already booked - but in case you're still looking, check out London Home to Home, or At Home in London. These are two B&B networks with many different homes in various parts of London, usually with breakfast included. Daughter and I have used both and really enjoyed our accommodations and our hosts. Cost is generally between 60 and 100 GBP depending on location and amenities. Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! We have booked our stay, and although we're not at any of the places recommended in this thread, you gave us some good stuff to work from. We're staying at the Lynton Hotel on Ebury Street, near Victoria Station. Price was good, at GBP100 for a double room with ensuite facilities, and full English breakfast each morning. Cartref House looked promising as well, but our other research on the internet kept referring to the great friendly and fun hospitality of the two brothers that run the Lynton, and I think that's what made us choose the Lyton over Cartref (they're both in pretty much the exact same location, for the same price). Anyway, thanks again!
