Good & Inexpensive Meal in Windsor

I'll be chaperoning a group of high school kids in just a few weeks. We will have two or three hours in Windsor while the rest of our groups arrive. I'm looking for an inexpensive spot to take the kids for a good first meal in England.

There is a good pub with outdoor seating on the lane leading into the castle. Sorry, I forget the name
but remember great meat pies. Also, there is an excellent Browns (English Chain) by the bridge between Windsor and Eaton.

Royal Oak tudor pub is on the High street. It is a very old pub, wooden floors, etc. Very authentic and lots of space inside.

Castle Hill is the road which you walk up to enter the Castle....there is the Horse and Groom Pub it's right across from Henry VIII gate of the castle.

Depending on how many are in the party and whether the weather is good, how about a picnic? If you are not mob- handed take them in to the Marks and Spencer's food hall and let them choose from sandwiches, baguettes, wraps and takeout size pasta salads, mixed salads, desserts, fresh fruit, soft drinks (small bottle of wine for you?!) etc etc. Plastic cutlery and paper napkins suppled free.

It would give them a "local" shoppping experience.

Those are excellent suggestions. In the past we've been able to find shady spots down the hill by the river, so a picnic sounds great!
