Hello experienced London travelers: We are staying at the Ruben's by the palace. Any recommendations for good breakfast / lunch / dinner places within walking distance? Thank you, Gary
Wagamama, or stop at the Pret a Manager across from the Victoria Palace Theatre for fresh soups, salads and sandwiches. Costa Coffee for excellent coffee, pastries and free wifi. Lastly, pub grub at the Albert Tavern or Buckingham Arms.
Like any other London neighborhood there are countless ethnic restaurants and cafes. When in London I simply read the menu board. If it looks good I take a chance. Enjoy your stay.
Gary I would head back towards Victoria for evening meals. Il Posto at the top of Vauxhall Bridge Road is a nice Italian. Nothing fancy but a good bet. http://www.ilpostovictoria.co.uk/index.html There are various places in Wilton Road, which runs down the side of Victoria Station. The pick of the bunch for me is a middle eastern place called Kazan http://kazan-restaurant.com/index.php The Prince of Wales, almost next door, is a nice pub. I've never eaten there myself but people say the food is good. I can vouch for the beer though! Also in Wilton Road is a chinese that is getting good reviews. Again I can't vouch for it but it's on my list for places to visit when I'm in the area. http://hungryinlondon.com/2013/04/a-wong-victoria-chinese-restaurant-review-londo/ If you get there first come back and tell us what you think! Have a great trip. Alan
For breakfast, I love Inn the Park, a beautiful spot in St.James's Park, near the Palace. Incredibly lovely along the lake, with outdoor tables.
