My husband and I love to tour a city by bike on our first day to get a feel for a city (and stay awake after a long flight!). Anyone had a good tour in Amsterdam?
Try this company - http://www.joyridetours.nl/ we did a ride with them about a month ago.
The tour starts near the AMSTERDAM sign behind the Rijks museum and winds its way with Vondel park, alongside the river and out into the country side – you end up at a cheese factory, then back again along the river to the Rijks museum – all up about 4 to 4.5 hours, 20kms. Make sure you take some water and a snack. We really enjoyed it – we saw some other bike tours but they were large groups and out of control, this company limits numbers to about 12 so you get personal attention. My wife hasn't ridden a bike in 40 years and she enjoyed it – don't worry about the cars that much as they look out for you, it's the other bike riders that are the main worry – all up it was great. PS: The tour is more in the country than the city but you get to see some of Amsterdam
