Golfing in Ireland in March

Will be flying into Dublin, will be using train or buses, backpacking. Does anyone have recommendations on less expensive golf courses that also rent clubs in the southeast or southwest of Ireland? Thanks!

Karla - Here is a link for you to look over. http://www.uk-golfguide.com/ireland/index.html. If you are going to be renting clubs, that will add about 20-45 euro per person, also if you are renting clubs will you need to purchase balls, tees, and etc. Your round of golf could end up costing between 75-100 euro per person.

make sure to ask about appropriate dress. Some of the courses are pretty casula while some are stoggy

you may want to take a look at the Rosslare Golf Club in County Wexford in the Southeast. A buddy of mine and I looked at playing there in 2007 when I went to Ireland but we ended not staying near there. We played a round at the Lahinch Golf Club Old Course- beautiful! across the street with many of the same nice views is the Castle Course..a lot cheaper then the Old Course and you can see quite a few of the holes of the Old Course. It is just down the road from the Cliffs of Moher- maybe 10 km. There is also a surf shop in Lahinch- 2 actually.

Also, when I was looking up info about courses I came across a travel journal on golf.com by a writer named Tom Coyne. He wrote a book about playing every links golf course in the country by walking to them all! I think his book comes out near the end of February. The book is called A Course Called Ireland.
