Has is been announced as to whether Ireland is going to renew the Golden Trekker rail program for 2011?

According to the Irish Times, the possibility of extending the offer is still under review. It was a one-year pilot project, begun last December, designed to help raise tourism numbers, and by the end of the year they expect to have issued 15,000 free four-day passes. Whether or not they continue the program will depend on whether the review board feels it accomplished its purpose, as well as the resources available to fund the program.
